Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease, affecting 1 in 10 women – each one of them completely differently! Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows, outside of the uterus. Misplaced tissue can also be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or intestines.

Despite these startling numbers, there is not much awareness, and the condition is often misdiagnosed. Lack of awareness & education on the disease is a big downside towards diagnosis and early detection!

Some of Endometriosis signs and symptoms include painful & irregular period cycles, menorrhagia (excessive bleeding), bleeding between your periods, abdominal & pelvic pain, Dyspareunia (painful sex). These symptoms are often misdiagnosed and can have a debilitating effect on quality of life. Diagnosis and treatment options are often invasive and uncomfortable, and there is no cure. YET.

While the exact cause of Endometriosis is not completely understood, it is thought to be due to a combination of factors, including genetics, early/short menstruation, inflammation, and of course…. YOUR MICROBIOME!
